The ITU Acceleration Center in Kenya is established under the ITU Acceleration Centres (IAC) Programme as a Global Center. The IAC Programme is a leading component of ITU’s strategy for bridging digital innovation divide by building innovation capacity at global and local levels. The Programme’s primary objective is to support countries’ transition to innovation-driven digital economies, thereby accelerating the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The ITU Acceleration Centre in Kenya is hosted and managed by the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA), which operates under the legal framework provided by the Kenya Information and Communications Act (1998). This legislation outlines the mandate and operational parameters within which the Centre will function, ensuring alignment with national priorities and global innovation frameworks. The Centre’s broader mandate is derived from Kenya’s Vision 2030, the Digital Masterplan, and the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, all of which emphasise digital transformation as a key enabler of economic growth and development.
